In that awkward halo-free time period after the initial release of the Xbox 360 and the subsequent release of Halo 3 in 2007, hardcore gamers had to tie themselves over with something, and the very first Gears of War game most certainly filled that void. It is one of the few video game franchises in existence that has spanned its entire story-life or series over the span of the single console generation. Anyone that owns an Xbox 360 console will have no doubt heard of the Gears of War series.
